Most people need a certain level of social interaction to stay healthy although the amount is different for everyone. Spending time with friends and family can reduce your chances of becoming depressed and lonely. Spending time with people is also likely to make you more confident so give one of these a go:
- Organise a dinner party – get a date in the diary so that your friends can pop round for a fun evening.
- Busy lives mean it's easy to lose touch with friends but the internet also makes it a bit easier to get back in touch with them. For example Facebook is a great way to connect with people.
- Helping out in your local community will help you get to know your neighbours.
- If you're on your lunch break at work you could ask a colleague if they would like to go out for a walk.
