whats in your food?

For many families in Surrey it’s difficult to know how much sugar, saturated fat and salt they’re consuming. Some foods that people think are healthy such as yoghurts and cereals often contain hidden sugars.

Kids might seem fine on the outside but too much sugar and saturated fat can lead to the build-up of harmful fat on the inside that we can’t see. This can cause weight gain which might lead to serious health problems as they get older. With over a quarter of Surrey’s 10-11 year olds carrying excess weight it’s important to look at what your children are eating.

Luckily Change4Life is here to help you bring food labels to life with their brand new Be Food Smart app. It allows you to scan items as you shop so that you know how healthy everything is going into your trolley. Download the app from the Change4Life website and have a look at lots of healthy recipes to make sure you and your family get off to a healthy start in 2017. Or you can download these recipe cards and stick them to your fridge so you've always got some healthy recipes to hand:
